This Week's Lineup

Ticket Giveaway

Louisville City FC

Louisville City FC

We're partnering with Louisville City FC to give away four FREE tickets to Keep Louisville Weird Night on August 29 at Lynn Family Stadium. LouCity is taking on Detroit City FC, with gates opening at 6:30 for happy hour and the game starting at 8.

There will be a beer garden full of local vendors, flash tattoos from Tattoo Charlie's, a vinyl set by DJ Matt Anthony, haircuts from Anchorless Barber Co, Big Nita's cheesecakes, and some adorable local farm goats. A perfect night to celebrate everything weird, wonderful, and uniquely Louisville about this city.

Happy Hour

Waldo's Chicken and Beer

Fri & Sat 9-11pm

Waldo's Chicken & Beer runs a late night happy hour every Friday and Saturday night with 50% off draft beers and wine and $3 wells. If you're in Norton Commons, go ahead and fire up the golf cart. This one's basically in your backyard.

Go While You Can

Good Belly

Good Belly

Tue-Sun 11am-4pm

Good Belly is closing at the end of the month, and it's a tough loss for our local food scene. The NY deli-style spot off Bardstown Road has built a following around homemade corned beef and pastrami that's hard to find anywhere else in the city. If you've been meaning to go, now is the time. Farewell, Good Belly. You'll be missed.

Date Night Pick

Time Travelers Vintage Expo at KY International Convention Center

Time Travelers Vintage Expo

Saturday 10am-5pm

Here's a day date idea for you: head to the Time Travelers Vintage Expo at the International Convention Center on Saturday and let each other pick out a vintage outfit the other person has to wear for the rest of the day. 70 to 120 curated vendors from across the country are bringing vintage clothing, home goods, and handmade items for one day only. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door.

We're serious about the outfit challenge. Send us photos and we'll feature them in a future edition.

Family-Friendly Pick

Friday at Floyds at Beckley Creek Park

The Parklands of Floyds Fork

Friday 5-9pm

Beckley Creek Park is hosting Friday at Floyds this week, and it might be one of the last relaxing summer evenings we're gonna get. Live jazz from Jane's Jazz Addiction, ranger-led creek walks, kids games, and food trucks including Ramiro's, Celtic Pig, Just Piggin Out, and Guffy's Hot Dogs, plus Crowler Catering's craft cocktail truck will be on site for the adults. Bring your chairs, blankets, and the whole crew for a nice Beckley evening.

Pet-Friendly Pick

Highlands Festival on Baxter Avenue

Highlands Fest

Saturday 12-7pm

The Highlands Festival lands on National Dog Day this year, and the organizers are leaning into it by partnering with PG&J's Dog Bar. The free festival runs along Baxter Ave with live entertainment, local food and shopping, a car show, and a full slate of dog-friendly activities in partnership with the Kentucky Humane Society. If your dog could plan their own Saturday, I'm willing to bet this is what they'd pick.

New in Town

The Exchange NuLu

The Exchange NuLu

Opened on 08/12

NuLu has a new restaurant worth checking out. The Exchange, which has been a fixture in New Albany since 2011, opened its first Louisville location this week on the first floor of Hotel Genevieve. Ian and Nikki Hall's restaurant group is bringing a menu built around local ingredients and warm hospitality to the space that's been sitting empty since Byrdie's closed earlier this year.

If You Only Do One Thing

Kentucky State Fair

Kentucky State Fair

The Kentucky State Fair is back for eleven days at the Expo Center starting this Thursday. One ticket covers admission, exhibits, and a free concert every night. This year’s event is leaning into America's 250th birthday, with themed exhibits and patriotic photo ops, because nothing says patriotism like corn dogs and funnel cake. Also includes the usual lineup of livestock competitions, guilty pleasure fried food, and endless entertainment.
