This Week's Lineup

The Queen Anne named one of the best sandwiches in America

The Café

The Café | Mon-Thur 8am - 4pm, Fri-Sun 8am - 8pm

Over a century ago, a Louisville caterer named Jennie Carter Benedict mixed cucumber and cream cheese to make a bright green spread that's now a Derby-day staple around the city. The Cafe makes its own version called the Queen Anne with a thick layer of homemade Benedictine on walnut wheat bread, topped with applewood smoked bacon, sliced cucumber, and lettuce.

USA Today just named it one of the best sandwiches in America, although I’m not sure how I feel about it. Ohio and Indiana made the list too, see how our neighbors stacked up.

New in Town

The House of Marigold in Norton Commons

The House of Marigold

10715 Meeting Street, Norton Commons

If you've been to brunch at House of Marigold on Shelbyville Road, you already know the wait is going to be long but the food will be worth it. They have a new Norton Commons location opening this Thursday with full dinner service and craft cocktails. Expect the same type of seasonal comfort food that earned it Best Restaurant in Kentucky by Southern Living.

Date Night

Bryson Tiller at KFC Yum! Center &
Chance The Rapper at Paristown Hall

Bryson Tiller, Chance The Rapper

Bryson Tiller | Wednesday 7:30pm
Chance The Rapper | Saturday 8pm

If you and your significant other are rap fans, you're in for a good week. Our own Bryson Tiller is bringing his Neo Trapsoul Tour home to the Yum Center on Wednesday. If Chance the Rapper is more your style, he'll also be here Saturday at Old Forester’s Paristown Hall for the Coloring Book 10 Year Anniversary Tour, bringing along La Reezy. Proof that Louisville's concert scene doesn't slow down just because Louder than Life and Bourbon & Beyond are over.

Bring The Kids

International Day of the Girl Festival at Waterfront Park

Louisville Tourism

Sunday | 1pm - 5pm

This one's for the daughters, sisters, or young women in your life who deserve an afternoon dedicated entirely to them. The International Day of the Girl Festival on Saturday is a free community event on the Waterfront with food vendors, music, dancing, all kinds of activities, and guest speakers throughout the day. It's one of those events that leaves kids feeling great about themselves, which is always time well spent.

Bring The Dogs

OcDOBErfest at Apocalypse Brew Works

Bluegrass Doberman Rescue

Saturday | 4pm - 7pm

Apocalypse Brew Works is hosting OcDOBErfest on Saturday with a dog costume contest, silent auction, raffles, a photo booth, food truck, and obviously beer, all benefiting Bluegrass Doberman Rescue. The costume contest is the main event and I hear your chances of winning are way better if you match your dog. You don't need a Doberman to attend, but showing up with one in a Halloween costume would be pretty damn cool.

Food Special

Noosh Nosh

Noosh Nosh

Tue & Wed | 8:30am - 9pm

Fish tacos and $5 margaritas on the patio every Tuesday. Half-priced wine, chicken parm and tikka wings on Wednesday. Got your attention yet? Might want to catch these Noosh Nosh specials before patio season is over.

If You Only Do One Thing

Belknap Fall Festival at Douglas Loop

Belknap Fall Festival

Friday | 6pm - 10pm
Saturday | 11am - 10pm

Two stages, live music from local and regional performers, and a lineup of Louisville food trucks and neighborhood restaurants. You can find it all in one place at the Belknap Fall Festival coming to Douglass Loop this Friday evening and all day Saturday.

Oh, and the kids are going to love it too. A full family zone will be available with pumpkin painting, face painting, and a petting zoo with farm educators plus a variety of local vendors and artists bringing handmade goods and original art. Free to attend, all ages welcome.

Thanks for reading til the end!
