Serai just popped up on Frankfort Ave, opening on Sept 10th in the former DiFabio's Casapela space. Chef and owner Sebastian Moh describes it as a neighborhood restaurant with local seasonal ingredients built around Malaysian and Thai spices and herbs plus some Chinese wok stir-fry techniques. Dumplings, tuna tartare, lamb shank, crispy branzino, just to name a few dishes. Open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday.

Wednesday | 5pm - 9pm

Anyone who spent enough time at the Back Door knew their food was fire, and if you were a regular, you might have had your face on the wall to prove it. Troy and Kat, two of the longtime Back Door chefs, are taking over Paseo for one night alongside Chef Richard for Back to the Back Door, bringing back their famous wings, bombers, and chili. One night only, reservations encouraged. If the drinks are as strong as they were at the Back Door, it'll be a fun night.

APRON Inc is back with their monthly Happy Hour Friend-Raiser this week at Osteria in Westport Village. The event includes a solid rotating bourbon and spirits tasting lineup, complimentary bar bites, live music from Logan Leet, a prize wheel, and happy hour pricing. As always, a percentage of sales goes directly to APRON's mission to support local food and beverage workers. It's free to attend, donations are encouraged.

If you've seen the recent headlines about Racing Louisville's attendance concerns, this is your chance to be part of the solution. Racing is taking on the Utah Royals on Saturday for Pink Night, a tribute to Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Gates open at 2:30 for happy hour, kickoff at 4, and those impacted by the disease can RSVP to walk in a halftime parade celebrating survivors and fighters. Wear pink, bring friends, help fill the seats for a team and a cause worth supporting.

Boo at the Zoo has been a Louisville Halloween tradition for over 40 years, and if you have kids 11 and under still looking for trick-or-treating plans, this is a great option. The event includes a carousel, a Headless Horseman walk-through, and a spider house with real spiders crawling around with no barriers. That last one sounds pretty cool if you're into that sort of thing, but it's a hard no for us. Tickets start at $8.50 for members and $14.25 for non-members, all purchased in advance, kids 2 and under free.

Listed as one of the top three Best Fine Art and Design Shows in America, the St. James Court Art Show is celebrating its 70th anniversary this weekend. Over 600 artists using 17 different artistic mediums will be spread out in Old Louisville surrounded by our famous collection of Victorian homes, and an expected visitor count of more than 250,000. The event is rain or shine, and free to attend.

St. Mark's on Frankfort Ave is throwing its first annual St. Bark's Day on Sunday, a free event for all pets and humans featuring free pup cups and a blessing of the animals. Hot dogs and drinks will be available for purchase as well. Get out there and let your dog make some friends.

If you haven't been following all the drama this year, here's what happened: the Jack O'Lantern Spectacular left Iroquois Park after 13 years and relocated to Kentucky Kingdom, where it's being rebranded as Pumpkins at Kentucky Kingdom. Fortunately, Iroquois Park decided to keep the tradition alive and do their own thing. The Parks Alliance of Louisville is organizing their own trail starting this Thursday through November 1st, under the name Jack's Lantern Trail.

The new event follows the same route through the woods of Iroquois with thousands of pumpkins, live music, and the local support that's made this event great over the years. Every ticket benefits the Parks Alliance of Louisville and their work to maintain and enhance the city's public parks. Adult tickets start at $16 on weeknights and $22 on weekends, with kids 3-12 running $12 to $15, and children 2 and under free.
