This Week's Lineup - Oct 26 - Nov 1

Happy Sunday!

Halloween week is finally here. With the holiday falling on a Saturday this year, there are a lot of great ways to celebrate all over town, and we’ve got options for everyone.

Let’s get into it.

P.S. Want to get your business in front of thousands of engaged locals every week? Let’s chat!

New in Town

Pide Point

Pide Point

Mon/Wed/Thur/Sun | 11am - 8pm
Fri & Sat | 11am - 10pm

Louisville just got its first Turkish restaurant, a chef-owned spot in Fern Creek that opened in September. Pide Point uses a stone oven for hand-rolled pide, the boat-shaped Turkish flatbread (aka Turkish pizza), plus lahmacun, kebabs, köfte, and kumpir, a cheesy loaded oven-baked potato that’s been a staple of Istanbul street food for decades. The entire menu is halal and they offer dine-in, takeout, and delivery.

Food Special

Louisville Hot Brown Week

Louisville Hot Brown Week

Monday - Sunday

Louisville Hot Brown Week is back baby. The city’s most iconic dish is turning 100 years old this year. One hundred years. That’s crazy when you think about it. Nine restaurants will be putting their own spin on the Hot Brown this week at $10 to $12 each, including Biscuit Belly, Four Pegs, Gander, Hop Atomica, Sidebar, and more.

Drink Local

Louisville Halloween Bar Crawl

Crawl With Us

Saturday | 4pm - 12am

If you're looking to start your Halloween early with some day drinking and bar hopping in costume, the Louisville Halloween Bar Crawl will have food and drink specials at 10 different bars around the Highlands on Saturday. Tickets include 2-3 drinks, free cover at every stop, and access to the after party if you're still standing by then. Tickets are currently going for $25, less if you buy a group of 4.

Date Night Shows

Frankenstein at The Brown Theatre

Louisville Ballet

Friday | 7:30pm
Saturday | 1:30pm & 7:30pm

We realize a Halloween bar crawl isn’t everyone’s style, and we have a solid backup plan. Louisville Ballet is running Frankenstein at the Brown Theatre this Friday and Saturday, and the story has more in common with Halloween than most people realize. Mary Shelley wrote it as an 18 year old in Switzerland after Lord Byron dared a group of friends to each write a ghost story, and 200 years later the question still remains: between the doctor and his creation, who is the real monster? A great Halloween date night if you're a fan of the ballet.

Bring The Kids

Halloween on Hillcrest

Halloween on Hillcrest

Saturday | 5pm - 8pm

In the early 1980s a friendly decorating competition started between neighbors on Hillcrest Ave. Four decades later, Halloween on Hillcrest has become one of Louisville’s most beloved Halloween traditions, drawing thousands of visitors every October to the three blocks between Brownsboro Road and Frankfort Ave in Crescent Hill. More than 50 homes go all out with themes like Harry Potter, Wizard of Oz, graveyards, and full blown animatronics. Shoutout to the homeowners who probably spend a small fortune every year just to make Halloween magical for the kids.

It's free to visit through the end of the month, trick or treating on Halloween night will be from 5 to 8pm and the street closes to traffic, but heads up.. around 4,000 trick-or-treaters show up every year so you may want to get there early and park on a side street.

Bring The Dogs

Pupkin Spice 5K at Cherokee Park

Friends of Metro Animal Services

Saturday | 8am

There are two types of people on Halloween morning: those who sleep in (like any sane human does), and those who run a 5K in costume with their dog. The Pupkin Spice 5K at Cherokee Park on Saturday is for the second group. Includes a pet parade, dog treats at the finish line, a free pet bandana (while supplies last), and a costume contest covering everything from Best Human and Pet Look-Alike to Best Pet Tolerating a Clearly Incredibly Annoying to Wear Costume. Race entry also comes with a long sleeve shirt and finisher medal. If you raise $150 for Friends of Metro Animal Services, your registration is free. Enjoy the run. We’ll be on the couch with a warm cup of coffee.

If You Only Do One Thing

System Override Halloween Party at Fourth Street Live

Fourth Street Live! Entertainment District

Saturday | 7pm

We know, we know. 4th Street Live doesn’t always make the top of the list for locals. But the largest Halloween party in Louisville might be an exception. System Override is taking over seven venues on Saturday completely transforming PBR, Howl at the Moon, Sports & Social, Pizza Bar, Tavern, and Guy Fieri’s Smokehouse with live DJs, spooky decorations, and a $5,000 costume contest. General admission starts at $26 and gets you into every venue, with an optional all-inclusive drink package available to add on.

Groups can upgrade to reserved balcony tables at Tavern for up to 12 people or patio tables at Sports & Social for up to 4, both with extended drink packages through midnight. The event is 21+. It’s time to figure out if your costume game is strong enough for a $5k contest. No pressure.

How many Hot Browns can one person eat in a week? Dare we find out?

Until next time, friends.
