This Week's Lineup - Oct 19-25
Happy Sunday!
Lots of great stuff happening this week, but if you only read one section, make it the last one. It puts a free book in the hands of every kid who shows up.
Also in case you missed it last week, we shared a new guide with our favorite patios around town. Check it out here!
P.S. Want to get your business in front of thousands of engaged locals every week? Let’s chat!

New in Town
La Raíz Modern Kitchen & Bar

La Raíz Modern Kitchen & Bar
Mon-Thur | 11am - 11pm
Friday | 11am - 2am
Saturday | 12pm - 2am
Sunday | 12pm - 9:30pm
La Raíz opened this week on Main Street under the Martin on Main apartments, filling the space left by Nami. The menu focuses on elevated seafood and traditional Mexican braises, with standouts including a birria pizza, bacon-wrapped shrimp stuffed with mozzarella and jalapeño, a del mar trio of grilled lobster, tilapia and shrimp, and a bourbon salmon cooked in Jack Daniel’s sauce. It also happens to be right next to Gravely if you're looking for some pre or post-dinner brews.

Happy Hour
Del Frisco’s

Del Frisco's
Mon-Fri | 4pm - 6pm
A $5 drink and steak nachos at Del Frisco’s is a waaay above average night. Their happy hour includes $5 wells and house wines, half-price apps, and entrees like a French dip, filet chimichurri flatbread, half-pound burger, and more. Or just go with our recommendation and get the nachos, loaded with queso, pico, and sour cream.

Date Night Shows
Journey at KFC Yum! Center

Journey
Thursday | 7:30pm
Journey is genuinely one of the best concerts I’ve ever attended, and they're coming to the Yum Center on Thursday for their Final Frontier Tour. After five decades, songs like Don’t Stop Believin’ and Faithfully still hit every time. Available tickets start around $61.
Dave Chappelle at KFC Yum! Center

Dave Chappelle
Saturday | 7:30pm
If Journey isn’t enough, Dave Chappelle will also be at the Yum! Center on Saturday for his Karmageddon tour. Arguably one of the greatest stand-up comedians alive, and the whole show is phone-free with secured pouches at the door, which means no distractions and people who are actually present for the show. Available tickets start around $53.

Bring The Kids
Via Colori at Waterfront Park

Via Colori Kentucky
Saturday | 10am - 6pm
Sunday | 10am - 5pm
If your kids have never seen a regular sidewalk turned into a masterpiece with chalk, Via Colori is about to blow their minds. Over 150 artists will be at Waterfront Park taking over the sidewalks for the 18th annual street painting festival, with live music, bounce houses, food vendors, and family activities all weekend. Free to attend, and proceeds benefit the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana.

Bring The Dogs
Howloween and Costume Pawty at Club K9

Club K9 Dog Bar
Friday | 7pm - 10pm
What do Club K9 and WDRB have in common this weekend? One of our favorite local traffic reporters, Mr. Mike Marshall himself. He’ll be serving as a special guest judge at Club K9’s 6th annual Howloween and Costume Pawty, and you might even get to hear his iconic "Can I Pet That Dog" catchphrase in person. The event features contests for best dog, best human, and best combo costumes, plus music bingo, a photo booth, and raffle prizes benefiting Pets4Life.. 18+ to enter, dogs must be vaccinated.

If You Only Do One Thing
Louisville Book Festival at KICC

Louisville Book Festival
Saturday | 10am - 5pm
If you love books, want to love books, or just believe every kid in Louisville deserves a chance to love books, we have your weekend plans. The Louisville Book Festival is back for a seventh year at the Kentucky International Convention Center. A free event with nationally recognized authors, local literary voices, children’s story times, and panel discussions all day.
Did you know Louisville has no bookstores west of 65? This has created a book desert for children who need them most, and every child who attends the festival leaves with at least one free book of their choosing. More than 20,000 books have been given away to kids and schools since the festival began.

Thanks for reading til the end!
Now go grab a beer. Or a book. Or both.
Until next time, friends.
